Beh si, io alla notizia che non ci saresti stato ho avuto un'idea merDavigliosa:
"telefoniamo a Marco, gli diciamo di telefonare a MK, e di passargli uno dei nostri numeri di cellulari, così MK ci chiama (l'inglese, il calabro e il siciliano sono uguali...), e ci fa entrare già per il soundcheck!!!!"

Today was one of those very long days which when looked back upon, seems like 3 days in one. It started by leaping straight into a wonderful lunch courtesy of Marco, Rudy's friend, who took us to a great rustic Italian restaurant in Rome called Lagana. Richard and Glenn had been there previously and their tales of culinary excellence were well founded. We then rushed back to the hotel for a quick bag pack and off to the airport in Rome through a torrential hail and thunder storm (you can see the angry clouds in the distance above) to pick up our plane. Our first set of goodbyes...Ike, Stephan and Siggy were the first of the two teams of drivers to leave us. Thanks guys!
We had to switch planes for the last day due to certain regulations involving pilots being registered for landing at Reggio Calabria airport, so we had to make do with a Falcon 900, instead of our beloved Legacy. In actual fact it's a good plane, just a bit smaller that we're used to and of course, our beloved Susi stayed onboard to serve us, so all was well. We flew into Reggio, a few bumps along the way and were met by the Bernie and the two Alex's and whisked off to the venue being cautious of some extremely eccentric Southern Italian driving!!. Now Reggio Calabria is situated right at the foot of Italy across the Straits of Messina overlooking Messina in Sicily and it's all very different down here! It all seems a lot more haphazard. The crew had yet another very difficult day in exhausting heat dealing with substandard local crew who had difficulty staying up with the requirements of our boys. The facilities were basic and there wasn't even any toilet paper at the venue when they arrived. Nice. When you don't have a hotel, things like that are important....thank you Mr. Italian promoter. As always, they rose above it and fought their exhaustion to get it all together. The sweaty hall and extremely noisy crowd all contributed to what was an amazing gig for us to finish off this leg of the tour. After show, more goodbyes. The catering crew, who becuase of American Unions can't travel with us to the States. They're an amazing team of guys who have without doubt kept the whole ship afloat in Europe. Thanks! Then Bernie's team of drivers executed the final runner to the plane and another set of goodbyes. Then back on board the Falcon (with Robert Collins) for sushi and gin and tonics Luton-bound. Three and a quarter hours later, we're in England and it's goodbyes and hugs for Susi who has been absolutely first class for well over 60 flights. Thanks luv! One thing I didn't mention was a presentation at the gig for Mark. I believe it acknowledges his writing achievement on the Shangri-La album. The Fatti di Musica 2005 award is shown in all it's glory below. We're all staying in London as we have an extra private 'corporate' show tonight (Thursday) for Deutche Bank at which we'll be doing a shortened version of the set with ALL rented gear (for obvious reasons) Should be fun! I'll add an extra diary entry tomorrow to say how it went.

Oggi ho scaricato da una di queste pagine il video (formato compresso rar) di Sultans of Swing ripresa nel concerto di Reggio Calabria.
Per aprire il file occorre inserire una password che alcuni ragazzi si sono trasmessi.
Vi sarei grato, se sapete quale è, se potete inviarmela.
Io sono Maurizio dalla Sicilia ed ho assistito appunto al concerto di Mark Knopfler a Reggio Calabria il 15 giugno.

sono stato anche io al concerto di Reggio....ho ancora i brividi!
è la prima volta che vedo Mark dal vivo e penso che me lo ricorderò per tutta la vita!
La classica cosa da poter raccontare ai figli...
ho letto che c'è qualche video del concerto al Palapentimele, come posso fare per poterli avere anche io??? il mio videofonino non è bastato...
